In mid-June, 2014, my friend Björn and I attempted to climb Peak Lenin, a 7134 meter peak on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Other than the first hike to Camp 1, it snowed on us everyday, including two days when it snowed at least 30 centimeters. We were the only climbers on the mountain as well, so route finding, breaking trail and the weather ultimately shut us down before the summit.
